Allopathic path?

So I’ve been sharing my recent medical woes with my old voice teacher/friend on Facebook and she says finally that she doesn’t know what to say to me as I've “chosen the allopathic path”! I don’t quite know what “path” she thinks SHE’s on but I guess that means she doesn’t care! Aren’t most of us here on an “allopathic path” what with psych meds and whatnot?

Oooh, following an evidence-based approach, how scandalous!

To clarify I don't really know what the conversation was, I don't even know what "allopathic" means but I looked it up and it just said an evidence based approach to medicine.

I’m sure she wouldn’t agree with that definition!

I see my Pdoc tomorrow after two months! My psych meds are holding steady thank goodness! I’m sure this person on fb would be totally against them but Ive tried or failed with every psych meds over the last decade- actually TWO decades!- that I’m on my last psych meds before electro shock treatments! Tried cold turkey for a month last year and that was a total disaster!

Speaking of, I’m seeing my primary now as a follow up to the ER. Plus she ran some tests a couple weeks ago that we’re going to discuss.

I saw my primary doctor this afternoon. She was glad that I saw my allergist yesterday. None of the tests they've run on my persistent diarrhea in the last month show infection, but they do show inflammation. Says it's not the fish. My allergist says I can keep eating it. At this point she doesn't know what to do next so she sent me to a gastroenterologist. I called that office right after my appointment and they said September 28th was the soonest they could get me in! And how about getting put on the waiting list? My doctor is seeing me in 5 weeks and wants the results from the gastro doctor first! Oops the woman said she didn't see the urgent flag in my chart so how is March 15th? Yay! I got dry eye drops for the dehydration and more electrolyte water and powder. Tonight is choir at 7:15 and if I want to sing Sunday at both services I need to go. Won't talk with Caleb tonight as he goes to bed at 9 and choir ends at 9:15.

I accidentally got the blood test for tryptase (?) that my allergist specifically said only to get next time I have a histamine flare up. I tried to explain to the woman in the lab that I don't need it right now but they ran it anyway. My doctor said to tell my allergist it was a mistake and I'm not having an episode. I sent him a portal message to this effect.

I'm so hungry. Got plenty of time to eat before I leave. I only slept from 6:30 to 10:00 this morning. Sleep's all messed up. My sister texted me that she's busy after I accidentally called her today. She's usually busy so that's no surprise.

Well, must eat. N3 had his math midterm last night. He says he answered all the questions and thinks he got them all right. I'm excited to go back to choir tonight. Spring break starts tomorrow for N3 and his gf. He's looking forward to it. They are singing Compline right after the special service Sunday evening that the main choir is doing.

I feel your pain. I’ve had bad gastro like symptoms for the past 2 weeks since starting Wegovy. But at least I know the cause of mine. It’s very uncomfortable when I’m at work because I won’t go and I hold out till I get home. Hurts my stomach.

Wow. My doctor wanted me on that medication last year but nobody had it in stock and insurance wouldn’t cover it so she dropped the idea. My mom’s husband has been on it for several months and has lost a lot of weight.

I’m glad to hear you know someone who’s lost weight on it. Yes it’s steadily decreasing my weight which I am happy about.

Just home from choir rehearsal! That really wore me out! I gotta make it to my Pdoc appointment in the morning!

Get some much needed rest.

The more I read on google about it the more sure that my main problem is dehydration! Dizziness every day. IV 3 times last week with fluids and electrolytes. I don’t think two weeks is soon enough to be seen! I don’t know what is causing the diarrhea- that’s for the GI doctor to figure out. My doctor spent 45 minutes with me discussing my recent medical issues. Now she is having me come back in five weeks- after I see the GI and that’s in two weeks! Ugh. I’ll die of dehydration before then!

Saw Pdoc today. She said “ you could’ve seen me sooner….” She reviewed my ER visits and other recent appointments and said they’re thinking it’s Crohns. No psych med changes. Seeing Pdoc after I see my gastro dr - Pdoc in a month, gastro in two weeks. .

Trying to stay hydrated though it’s not easy. I guess part of chrones is high histamine! Hmmm…. I slept until 5 today after I got back from my Pdoc appointment and lunch.

Meeting my eldest child, N1, at her favorite coffee shop. Not sure what I’ll get. Feeling hungry. Got a parking spot in their tiny lot! Haven’t seen each other in ages!

osteopathic treatment path is alternative treatments like yoga, tai chi, and other non-medicated breathing/ relaxation exercises, acupuncture is also an osteopathic treatment.

your friend may feel that you are not open to trying osteopathic treatments like mindfulness, meditations, yoga, exercise plans and so on.

I saw my eldest child, N1, this morning for almost 2 hours. She says she thinks I have health anxiety and she says she used to have it. Hmm. Something to ponder! Wouldn’t explain the weight loss but I can afford to lose weight. My clothes fit better.

i was having some serious GI stuff too and its IBS. i had to do the whole colonoscopy/endocscopy thing to rule out crohns and colitis too. now i take a med everynihgt and no more upset tummy every single day. it was really affecitng my life.

What if I am just crazy? Just depressed? I slept three hours this afternoon. Now I’m wide awake at 7! And yet my belly is gurgling loudly…. Not hungry. Ate around 1.

Took klonopin hoping it will help me with my depression and lack of tiredness after sleeping the afternoon away. Why would I feel terribly fatigued after choir rehearsal though? Hot and cold running through my body?

I just got home. Got to church at 7:30 this morning! I over estimated my travel time at that hour on a Sunday but I did get a good parking spot. Choir members started showing up at 8:30 for our 8:45 call. Service went well. Went by fast! N3 and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings after. I got a hamburger that had macaroni and cheese on it. N3 got a chicken sandwich. We have a 6 pm call for a 7 pm Evensong service tonight that the choir is singing. Then at 8 N3 sings with the Compline choir. Ariel is glad I'm home. She's laying on me warming up with the heating pad I'm using. I probably won't talk with Caleb tonight. He's not answering the phone this afternoon and I'll get home about the time he goes to bed. Just thought it was time for a good update from me.

I too went to church. we got there 10 minutes til it started so it was packed and had to sit in overflow room. im excited fo the day we eventually build our own building. we have three services a week and always packed. its in an old movie theater. but i go to one of our smaller campuses. theres 15 of them. thebig one people like to make fun of and call "six flag over jesus." it is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i could never go to the big main campus its holds hundreds it not over 1,000 people

So including rehearsals before each of the two hour long services today, the choir sang for four hours today! I’m exhausted!

I see my therapist tomorrow- it’s our last session. My long-time friend who is a therapist says I need to find a way to continue therapy.

I woke up at 4 a.m. after that exhausting day yesterday. My therapist says last week that Ive been depressed but my long-time pen pal/friend says it seems to him that Ive been manic. Can we say mixed?
