Possible trigger: Weight/eating/meds

What the FFFF just happened??? I swear to God I did not intend to go into that appointment with those intents.

Have you been on Topamax before? Did it have the weight loss side effect specifically on you?

It does not have a strong evidence as a mood stabilizer, but I know some people who are on it for mood stabilization swear by it and have taken it for ages. You never know how you personally will react to it. Maybe you will benefit from it. Maybe you will not lose even more weight on it. There is also the argument that mood instability contributes to your not eating, and that stabilization will enable you to eat and that that toward effect of Topamax, if you experience it, will outweigh the untoward effect of lowering appetite, if that untoward effect even happens to you.

I am concerned that you will start forgetting words, which is a much more typical side effect of Topamax than losing weight, and that you won't tolerate that side effect, being a witty girl.

But how will you learn without trying if you get word recall problems on it? How would you learn anything about a drug without trying it?

I’ve been on topamax for a while but just 50mg. We started it initially because it had a lot of “good value” (migraines, artificially increasing Adderall levels, combat binging urges, mood stabilization though that wasn’t the primary reason or even one the NP at the hospital seemed to think it’d help with). My pdoc is just increasing it to 75 and got rid of the Zyprexa (which was started at the same time as the Topamax to treated anorexia symptoms).

And just last night I was in the hospital for severely low potassium from not eating. I was on 100mg before and that was when I was at my lowest weight ever (really low) so it wasn’t helping in that way too much.

And Zyprexa was removed for what reason? Aren't you an ideal candidate for Zyprexa?

Because I only took it three or four times and wrote a paper long note on how evil it was and if I took both, Topamax nor severe pain did not stop me from binging (and I did not stop me from purging after).

I am an ideal candidate for Zyprexa except for the fact that every antipsychotic is on my “allergy” list just because at this point I am so prone to, scared of, and react in not a healthy way to akathisia. In my psych advanced directive it actually says do not give me antipsychotics unless I’m in an ER literally about to severely injure somebody and for some reason they can’t give me Ativan (then do an IM shot of Zyprexa because I will try to throw up any non ODT pill out and spit the ODT ones out anyway).

She asked if Adderall was stopping my appetite and if we should go back to Focalin and I just told her Focalin was when I stopped eating. I didn’t explain, yeah, I don’t have an appetite on Adderall either, so I’m still on that, too.

I walked into that office trying to regain to ability to eat NORMALLY and walked out essentially guaranteed never again. I cannot stick to a plan for the life of me.

I'm on 100mg of topamax. I don't know why. It doesn't decrease my appetite I don't think. I was put on it for weight control from seroquel and I suppose maybe it IS sort of working in that I haven't gained a pound in a year (I've actually lost like seven. Wow. Yippie. Go me).

I don't recommend you go up on it if it's suppressing your appetite though, Muddy.
