I would encourage ever one to get them Who are 50+
You get the first one then 2 months later you get the booster. If you know of anyone who has gotten them before it is a very painful experience.
If you have never had chicken pox then You don't need to worry about the shot. The shingles lies dormant and can reappear when under stress.
I got mine while taking the flu shot. I will have the protection from shingles for the rest of my life no need to have boosters. your insurance should pay for the vaccines.

My dad got shingles, also a young guy i worked with. They were both miserable. I am pretty sure i never had chicken pox - i never even got cold sores in elementary school when other kids seemed to get them all the time! But i think the hairdresser i worked for gave me non-sex herpes in my 50's! One time he just up and kissed me on the lips! The little blue tube and a prescription for a few years, it hasnt shown up in a long time, except if i get super super stressed.

But yeah i got my shingles shots - first the old one, then the new double one.

Yeap got the shots. Also a pneumonia shot.

Get covid and flu shot too, every year.

Something is working haven't had covid or a cold or covid in years. I live in a building with other seniors and often play cards or other games.

I have to find out if I need it. I never had chicken pox (well I did as a baby but didn't get immunity) so I had the chicken pox shots as an adult. My understanding from the internet is that I will need Shingrex but I've seen it both ways. I think they aren't completely sure yet because there aren't a lot of adults at that age who had the chicken pox vaccine.

I've seen a lot of shingles during my time working in nursing homes and also my sister and brother have both had it (my sister twice). So I'll happily get the shots to avoid it if I need them.

" non-sex herpes"

There are two strains of the herpes virus, HSV1 and HSV2. I think HSV1 was initially identified by oral transmission, and HSV2 genital transmission,
but cross contamination does occur due to oral sexual practices. The CDC says 47.8% of the US population tests positive for HSV. Johns Hopkins says 50-80%
of adults have acquired the virus. Some people feel a warning symptom prior to an outbreak which can give time to take an anti viral such as Valacyclovir which
will lessen severity and duration of the outbreak. It really doesn't matter which strain you may have.

Or how you acquired it, for that matter. Mine are genital in nature and they caused me a lot of psychological trauma back in my early 20s. During long periods of sexual abstinence, I wouldn't have an outbreak.
But it is almost like the virus is intelligent because it knows when you are on a 3rd date. (groan).

Babies have gotten herpes on their penises from mohel’s infected on their mouth because of an older tradition of oral suction of the fresh circumcision wound.
