I am still learning about my bipolar, so please bear with me if I sound ignorant or something.
So about a week ago and for about a month before I was seriously depressed. For the last 2 days I have been overly happy. I am constantly having to sing or hum, I am not sleeping as much, my boyfriend says I am annoyingly happy after severe depression. I just started back on Lamictal 4 days ago. OK, so is this mania? Or could it be the meds? Thanks, BJ

I doubt it is the meds. How much are you taking? If you are like me you were started on a very low dose maybe only 25mg. Therefore, it is more likely you are possibly hypomanic and if you continue the meds it should work itself out. Don't hesitate to let your doctor know how you feel and of course, don't stop your meds without consulting your doc first.

What you are experiencing could be a side effect of the Lamictal or it could be mania and it is hard to tell because some people say they feel icky or some say they feel a little jittery or agitated (kind of like when they have mania) when starting or upping their dose of Lamictal. Remember Lamictal takes time to build up in your system. If you are concerned please call your doc. They are there to help you.

I am not so much concerned as curious. I feel great. I will try to keep an eye on it and if I get worried I will certainly call my doc. Thanks

Not everyone ones bipolar is the same . But Im a lot like you I drive my wife nutts when Im manic. its hard to get drugs to work togetter to treat both dep. and manic at the same time . What I have done is to take meds. everyday for my dep. since can not live with it when it gets bad . But my manic can sometimes is funny and even help motivate me but do have pills that i take as needed .so if my manic starts to get out of hand which it dose often i have chill pills.
