There is a book called " Nutritional Healing, 4th edition" by Dr. Phyllis Balch, and it has helped some in the way of nutrition.
I never thought that so many foods alter the bipolar in to extra drive of self destructive behavior.
Also like to respond in regards the few posts that I saw earlier, such as lack of sleep.
Am going on the 3rd week or longer of maby 3 hours of sleep every other day, and one extra small meal every other day. Have been full of energy, ride my mountain bike almost every day, workout, and ride the street bike for cardio. Energy non stop. To does that have fustration about it, all I can say is try to get bussy with something productive [easyer said than done, right?], I use to clean my house til 4 in the morning, etc.
I regards to med's. Its scary when I see people taking so many pills, and nothing works. To read about does who suffer from wheight gain is sad to know. All I can say is that my substituitions are in the same behavior, except different methods. I cant eat, I throwup, and force feed my self with shakes [protein and carbs, etc]
Did try some meds, yet dyprexa almost killed me, and lithium stoped working. Last resort is what has helped, and thank God that here in California the politicians where smart enough to let Doctors prescribe Marijuana. Some people object to it as if its a hard core drug. It is a plant that actualy works on many of us. It is absolutly legitimate and legal. Maby does that are having a very hard time concedering all natural ways may be worth the try.
Example: The normal, or should say average person with bipolar or other conditions will have an effect with type A Marijuana, and another effect with type B. I on the other hand am exactly the oposite, the A that helps people sleep gives me a boost away from the low, and total workout energy.
The point is that with education on the natural ways may very well be another well intended tryout, verses4 or 5 different chimicals full of side effects such as weight gain [low self esteam, etc.]
I f any one would like more imformation on the food groups, and easy workouts let me know.
To a young person that I saw the cry of wanting to live normal and claiming that you are still so young. [ sorry that I could not find your post, or would have responded directly]
' Yes you are young, and no it will not be always sad" When I was your age, not a lot was known about bipolar, and unfortunatly I have the worst changes, yet I made it! and so can you!
Photography, poetry, oil on canvas, being spiritualy involved with charity, volunter work, etc, these are very good ways for a young person to stay focused away from drugs/ alcohol. and hopefuly parents are stable. Also there are hudge advantages of being awake for ever, no food, etc. Instead of getting fustrated, take advantage of the time and situation. I whish I was an expert at this, but all I can tell a young person is to never give up, and write notes to your self as a reminder of what is reality, that everything is ok.
Thank you.
