When will it stop? I can not handle it anymore. What am I doing wrong?

Fighting it like an enemy, instead of reconciling with it, like a friend and giving it some time to get to know the real you.

It will stop when you get treatment and stick to it. We all know how you feel.
I'm telling you (for the third time), try out Lithium and see what you think.
If you don't like it, stop taking it and it's out of your system in a couple of days.

Come on - seriously - take your life back from this illness.

Thanks for your comments- I was already in a bad place today, much appreciated. I hope you never have and never had to go through the pain I am in and have been through, otherwise you wouldn't have said such painful things.

I wasn't trying to be hurtful or negative. I was trying to be persuasive. I realize that the way it was worded was harsh, but I didn't notice this until now.

While I don't know how you feel exactly, I am here on the forum for the same reason as you. I was depressed severely for a year and then I started to think about ending it all. I got to the ER, got some treatment to stabilize me.

The depression was still there but not as bad. I quit my Psychiatrist and found another one. I asked for Lithium (since I tried everything else). It worked in 5 days or so - dramatically. I know it won't work for everyone, but I see you suffer here (alot) and I just want to see you post a message that you feel fantastic for the first time in a long time. I thought that if you asked for Lithium for a month, there's a chance you'll feel better too.

Again, sorry for being so harsh in my earlier post. I just want you to be the person you were before you felt this way.

Yes, I believe we have all been where you are. I'm not going to preach, but we understand more than you know. I have had weeks on end where I didn't want to do anything but die. The only thing that helps is meds and maybe therapy. I have had no luck with therapy, but some people it helps. Don't feel alone. Just do something about it.

If you want the pain to go away, the only way for that to happen is to face your issues and then you can move on from them. I am bipolar and suffer from chronic depression. I battled it from the time I was 18 until 37 without any meds, just therapy, unaware of the official diagnoses. After being in and out of therapy for so long and still feeling suicidal despite have addressed all of my issues, I went to a psychiatrist and got my diagnosis. I had no reason to be depressed....it is just the way I was. I went on meds for depression, anxiety and a mood stabilizier and my life is dramatically different now. I am not overjoyed, there is still a limit to how "high" my moods get, but I am lifted from the dark hole I was in. I think you should speak to a doctor, clearly you want relief and that is the only way you will get any. We can support you and let you know you aren't alone but we can't take away your pain. Meds might be able to.
