If your psychiatrist tells you that your already-diagnosed fibromyalgia isn't real, and that anxiety isn't real also, and that they're just products of your manically-depressed brain, then leave him and change doctors. He has shown you what a worthless degree he has earned... The things he's said to you are his OPINIONS, not the FACTS.
I have a very close friend who suffers from panic attacks, depression, and fibromyalgia. She says that even while brushing against the wall triggers the pain (on her left side, which is where her fibromyalgia is concentrated), and that when she's too cold or too hot her pain gets severe when anything touches her left side. To educate myself and prevent any unwanted accidents, I read a few articles on fibromyalgia, and from what I've learned, the brain is mixing the normal "sensation" signals with "pain", and I don't think that that's in your mind: it's a problem with your brain cells. If your psychiatrist can't see that, change. Don't deal with extra suffering because of malpractice... Wishing you luck! |

Welcome and a second opinion would not be a bad thing for you right now. Let us know what you decide to do. Wishing you the best.
