I am meeting with a shrink a few weeks. I think my dx will officially be bp then, though i'm not sure what type.
Is it possible to NOT have to take meds? I've been playing with meds a little over a year now and I don't want to keep playing that game. I was reading up on psychotropics used for bp and it just doesn't seem like a good compromise to me. I don't see how a pill can be worth any of the side effects. I'm tired of side effects, too. Anyone here not on meds and doing alright? And if one is not taking meds, what does one do? |

I hope everything goes well for you. I personally have to take meds. Good luck.

WEll If I don't take meds I end up going manic.
so I have to take meds. I take lamictal which is a great mood stabilzer..I have no side effects from this med....I am bipolar 1 so I run more manic as opposed to bipolar 2 which tend to run more depressed. Let us know how it goes. Many folks manage their moods without meds, diet exercise, stress management, therapy, but I have only heard this, don't know of anyone personally. bizi |

I forgot to say that some antidepressants can make you manic.

Hey Bizi,
Have you been taking meds long? I have a 17 year old son who won't take any meds. He's assaultive to family members and ended up in jail. It's tough to swallow. Any advice? |
