I also have the dx of bipolar 1 disorder (for the last 12 yrs. but should have been much sooner as I had my first suicide attempt at 15 & I'm 54).

I also have been dxed with borderline.

I am taking medication (hell to get that right with all the side effects) & doing indiv. & dialectical behavioral therapy (mostly people with borderline in there). It is more like a class with homework & very helpful.

Had my last suicide attempt 2 1/2 yrs. ago & slowly reintering mjain society.--Suyz

hi paddy and welcome to pc!!! i'm so glad you found us and know that you will find the support you need here. this is a very caring and warm community. i congratulate you on your efforts to deal with your dx's. knowledge i believe is power. having said that i would also suggest you do things in your day that are enjoyable to you. this can help divert your mind to a peaceful place. one of my dx's is BPD. i have been dx-ed also with some medical conditions not associated with MI. the last dx i just couldn't wrap my head around. my t and i talked about this. he said what do you do about your other dx's? i said i take and pill and see my regular doc for follow up. he stated this is just another condition you have like all the others. embrace it (accept it) and then do what is needed to manage the condition. so i'm passing on that piece of wisdom to you about the borderline dx. there are meds and therapy for it too. i understand your challenges right now with the language barrier. hopefully you will continue to search for solutions that can be fruitful to you to deal with both dx's. you sound like you have taken responsibility for your mental health. that is a very positive direction that for some of us we struggled with until we accepted this was something we needed to fix to have a better life.
i have been stable with my bp for many years. it was trial and error at first with meds but i wanted to have a more complete life and stuck to the plan to get better. i can't express how very grateful i am that i did this. my life is better than it has ever been...i wish the very same for you....and offer you this very positive thought, hope. it happened to me and it can happen for you.

I too am coping with dual dx. Please know with the right meds you can feel better. I also have tremendous guilt over things I've said and done when ill. It is easier to cope now that I've found the right combo of meds. Still feel guilty but able to cope. I feel bad for you not speaking the language it must be hard to get help, don't know what to tell you about that. Please know you can feel better and lead a normal life with the right meds. If you had diabetes or some other disease you wouldn't hesitate to take meds so don't feel bad about being medicated. I just hope you can get help with your dx and the language barrier. Please come back anytime to talk it helps us all to talk to others with the same disease.
