I have been cycling really fast. Usually within one day. I go from really speedy or agitated or euphoric to desperately depressed all in one day.

Do others cycle this fast????

People have all sorts of cycles, I think. I have heard of some who do it several times a day.

That would suck.

Hang in there, call your pdoc, follow instructions!

Hi Berries,
I too suffer with rapid cycles which happen over 2 or 3 days but many times all in one day. I've had as many as 3 complete cycles in one day. It's tough but hang in there. Tell your psychiatrist. There are mood stabilizers that can slow down the cycles. At that point s/he should be able to figure out how to stabilize your highs and lows. Everyone is their own personal chemistry set so what works for some others may or may not work for you. Be patient and keep a chart of your highs and lows. This will help your Pdoc immensely. Say maybe 5 would be the highest where you would be euphoric, talking constantly, need little sleep and working incessantly on various tasks or projects. 0 would be normal. -5 would be one is unable to get out of bed, feeling worthless, hopeless, cannot work at all. So the chart would range 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5. If you set it up on Excel (spreadsheet) or on graph paper, it is a wonderful tool. Since you cycle multiple times in a day, I would recommend you use 4 to 6 (maybe more) columns per day so you can post the number of ups & downs and their intensities for your doctor. Also, see if you can discover what might trigger each change. If you notice them, make a brief note of it in that column. These tools are priceless to your doctor.

I wish you success in overcoming -- it's a process and work but it pays off in the end.
