Some one told me that people calls us (People with BPD) manipulative and liars and attention seekers and say we are using this disorder to cop out....I have never heard this type of thing before....never been called any names or anything like that but I am a 45 year old woman and I was agoraphobic for more than ten years, I only have been out this last year so I have been sheltered. Has anyone ever heard this crap ?? and if so what are your thougths on the matter or the stigma as they called it??

Sincerely,

Roxy

Yes Roxy there is a horrendous amount of bad "press" out there about BPD, I remember when I got my diagnosis almost wanting to do away with myself as I viewed people with bpd as manipulative and dangerous because that is what I had been told and read about bpd before. Thank goodness for therapy I have been able to work through all my negative interpretations and find out the real truth that is bpd and that to me is more like emotional dysregulation and hypersensitivity. I am 45 too but male, I have yet to meet another male with bpd I feel really different and uncomfortable at times.

I thank God for my therapy too, what I heard only came from them and it was all the truth. Thanks for replying to my concerns.
