Do people with BPD hear voices? Voices inside their own head or out? I have recently been hearing voices more often than in the past and I am curious about BPD as it's been in question for me... BPD or BP... Anyway, just wondering.

I am BP, and have heard voices in the past, inside and out, especially during a manic episode. I occasionally hear voices on any given day as well, but mostly whispers that I can barely understand.

Yes! Voices that are inaudible whispers. I get those! Do yours sound like people you know? Sometimes I think my boyfriend is saying something and then I find out he is nowhere around or in the other room with headphones on. I've heard people calling my name too. It's really starting to freak me out!

When you said BP did you mean Bipolar or Borderline Personality?

I have Bipolar I disorder, but I also have some borderline traits.

I have that too! The hearing voices of people I know. I had that especially as a child. I'd always hear my dad calling, run up to him and ask what he wanted, and he'd just look confused and say "I didn't call you." He even took me to the doctor to see if it was an issue, but the doc said it wasn't.

When I hear the whispers though, it's usually either a little girl or little boy, not often people I know. Sometimes I'll also hear people calling my name, but not a voice I'll recognize, and I'll turn around and realize I'm alone.

this has happened to me i suffer from both conditions, and i think its more the bipola side than the personality disorder. My hearing of voices were complete strangers who whisper random things to me, not full sentences just random stuff.

Just today I had a nap where I'd keep waking up, and whenever I tried drifting off to sleep again I'd hear a little girl's voice right beside me saying things I couldn't quite understand. I'd be paralyzed to move and fully wake up until the voices stopped. I have had the auditory hallucinations while falling asleep as well as while waking up.

I think its quite a common thing, actually.

I know several people with BPD, Including myself that hear voices. I hallucinate sometimes aswell.

So your not alone.
