i've been keeping myself occupied lately by doing volunteer work and it has really helped my self-esteem by giving me a greater sense of purpose. as borderlines we have an immense amount of compassion, and by actually using it - i've noticed in myself that i just feel better and am able to remain distracted at the same time from my obsessive thoughts and regrets about the past
Thanks for this!

I volunteer with an elderly woman ~ It has certainly worked well at reminding me that there are still many good people in this world. Other decent people may have significant problems in their lives, but they still find the motivation to keep living. That gives me more strength to deal with life, in general.

She is a wonderful person for me to spend time with and assist in whatever ways I can. It has been a nice treat, for both of us!

Thanks for posting your positive experience, palemoss. It's great that you have discovered distraction from negativity. Maybe more people should try it. It just may be what the doctor ordered to help ourselves feel better!
