I have recently been dignosed with borderline personality disorder. After 18 months of work with my Dr. she told me she can not help me. I am as ambivalent as ever. She has recommended I find a specialist in Dialectical Bahavior Therepy (which after my research does offer me hope) I am really, Really trying to be grateful to FINALLY have a name to go with the relentless emptiness and self-loathing I have felt my entire life however I can not help feeling utterly abandoned by her and the world. I am a born optomist which is why I am alive today. Im looking for support in this journey,Thanks.

Scout1963,

Sorry that your T hasn't lined up a DBT group for you to work with. Her just saying that she can't help you, now go and look for a DBT specialist, that's not real professional! A better thing would have been her giving you a list of options in your area, offering to call and refer you, so you aren't doing it alone. Sorry, that just really bugs me!

It's great that you are an optimist ~ what a wonderful quality to hold onto! Hold onto that optimism and get into a DBT group & individual T, to help you work through your past.

Best wishes to you!
