Am I the only person who cries at commercials?

Johnson and Johnson have these new "nurses heal" commericals. So sad. I just saw a Hallmark commercial for recordable storybooks, a son sends one to his dad, he is clearly active duty military deployed somewhere... but yeah... tears.

I laugh about it after the fact but seriously I'm not the only one, right? (right?) lol

Nope, not the only one.

Well, I don't any more--but I used to, big time. When my dx went from clinically depressed to bipolar, they added a mood stabilizer to my AD. The "commercial" & similar tears dried up.

When I saw just the title of this thread, I thought, well, they do make really sentimental ads during this month, I don't think she's crying at just random ads... and see, I was right. but I saw your other thread about this - how old are you? could you be in perimenopause? I think I was weepy then.

I have heard about this.

Sometimes I hear a real sentimental-sounding melody that an ad might do and I tear up. I feel like such a sucker. I tell myself, "Billi, at least you're not buying the product! (lol) They're just trying to get your attention, like you read in your economics class!"

thanks for this thread.

An interesting one.

Billi

I've felt like that with ads too. As the previous person said, it was a eye opener to find that they do these things to evoke emotions and sway you to buy.

Maybe that has helped me to see them differently now and I don't watch tv anymore. Though still feel the intense emotions with songs and movies or if I'm shopping. Some songs make we want to run out of the shop.

We cry sometimes at adverts that have an emotional message attatched to them..

I cry when I see kindness and/or nurturing. I think it's good that we are touched by things like this.

I also know that, for me, it is because it is a core issue with me, wanting kindness and nurturing and comforting.
Thanks for this!

...yeh I do this when I'm straight...some of them..

I don't like it

because there is no-one there to see me do it..

I can't let anyone see me cry.

because suddenly they might think I have 'made it' to the world of feelings...especially something simple like an ad'

don't want to give the wrong impression
Thanks for this!

I often do the same thing when my illness is directing my emotions. I don't do it all of the time. It seems to onlu happen when I am already feeling depressed, angry, alone, empty...We are extra sensitive by nature.
