I'm on this also at 2.5mg for my anxiety and to help me sleep, but I haven't noticed much difference really, although I haven't been taking it because I've been drinking every night.

You mean olanzipine? (i think zyprexa is the american name)
I found this was friggin sweet for helping me feel unsteady on my feet and getting to sleep but other than that it did nothing for me. All i would do is keep a diary of any new affects you get and when and then show it your psych and see what their suggestions are. Good luck. |

I took Seroquel which is in the same class. I gained about 10 pounds because of the food cravings. Yes, Zyprexa is notorious for weight gain too. I was supposed to take Seroquel daily. It wiped me out and made me a zombie. I call it a 'chemical straightjacket' as in it makes everybody else happy because you won't have the energy to kill yourself. But my quality of life went way down, I ate junk and could barely get up the gumption to exercise so all in all, not a good med for me. But it does work quite well at 50 mg for extreme anxiety, when I just want to rip my skin off, or beat somebody up, or jump off a bridge or....So I only use it on an as needed basis for that. I usually only need it once or twice a month. On that basis, I'm not a zombie and it doesn't cause weight gain.
But no, it's sure not going to cure my BPD. Only helps me through the rough patches so I can tolerate life while I'm getting rid of some of the BPD traits. My T suggested I try it so I could get through the intensity of therapy without going off the deep end. Turned out to be a good suggestion, except with my spin of 'as needed only' as opposed to 'all the time'. I would think much of this applies to Zyprexa.
