Hi

I'm new here. Dx BPD a few years ago. I've read so much online about BPD- some good some bad, but I came across this website and found some of the articles very helpful. I initially thought it was a MH website for treating children as it is aptly named ToddlerTime! But it's not- it's for adults and MH professionals. I can relate to a lot of what she says and thought it might of interest to you

I have mixed feelings on the site, there is interesting and some good information but there is also areas that lack understanding, so it is more take what you want type of thing with this site. Thanks for sharing the link.

The lady behind this website is a mental health advocate, who is trying to educate the public.

There are two different perspectives: client and healthcare professional. The content is better, than many other sites, I have visited. Some of it makes me wonder, though.

I saw the site a while ago, and I mentioned something in therapy that I read there, and mentioned the name of the site. My therapist's reaction was funny--"WHAT'S the name of that site???!!" She hadn't heard of it and thought it was an odd name for a site.

I found this interesting. I just had a shrink session with my bpd daughter this afternoon. It was terrible. Everything she accused me of, of course, had a kernel of truth to it (like I swear, and that's where she learned it). To hear her tell it, I am Satan's #1 henchwoman. Just skimming some of the writings on this site, I see that I have taken on the projectee persona, where I am wracked with guilt, but want to blame her for all her problems and bad behaviors. And I always find myself walking on eggshells around her, because, God forbid, I set her off. Now I have a better idea of what to do: stop the mind-meld and re-grow a spine. Sheesh

Another good read, to understand better and not for blaming or guilt, is Understanding the Borderline Mother by Christina Lawson. I saw myself in there. Borderline doesn't appear out of nowhere, it goes back generations.

Loving parents do the best they can with what they know. Even the "best" parents are not going to be able to meet their child's needs all of the time.
