O.K. I'm going to yell. ALL THE TIME! Now that is over let me just say yes. One of the things I try to remember is those of us that suffer with BPD have an overactive amygdala, so our brain is working against us. I am on Depakote that seems to help alleviate it some but it still can be very rough. I hate that I can watch a movie and cry one moment and be laughing hysterically the next, then if someone does something that I feel is unfair I get angry. I hope that you are not in crisis, but if you are I hope you feel better soon. If you ever just need someone to talk to drop me a line, ok? The mood swings can definitely take a toll on you so make sure to take some time to do something you like to do to spoil yourself. Take care.

Hello Tinkerbell,

I hope you are not in a crisis. If yes, I hope you will get better soon.
Maybe your medication is not ajusted?

Does something bother you especially?

Thank you both.

I just really hate myself right now and I am sick of all these mood swings and in feeling so awful most days I am on Depakote too and have been for about 2 years now.

I am hoping to be discharged from the crisis team tomorrow.

Hey Tink,

I feel this all the time, my moods are malleable, scattered and seemingly random. They shift from one to the next suddenly. I definitely relate to this...it's hard, I know. DBT is helping somewhat, but I have a very long way to go.
Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for this!

Did you try to do something that you like to change your mind?
Thanks for this!

Constantly changing emotions on a dime is the classic BPD in us that I believe we all share. Fun, isn't it? Gotta love the roller coaster!! Seriously, though, you are NOT alone. Allow that to provide a little consolation. We'll get through this together.
Thanks for this!

I have learned that often I can quiet down a situation that may be leading to another crisis if I try to govern my thinking.

Self hate, self harm can do it to me.

It really can.

And I agree that bpd is "fun". lol A lot of stuff, such a mess. I picture my feelings, esp my fear and my anger just coming upward thru my body and washing out of me thru the top of my head (my mentor taught me this) and that helps me.

The way I think largely controls how I feel. Of course a mess of self hate, self abasement, self injury will throw me right down.

I too am struggling with self- hate.

It feels so pervasive and strong in me.

My mentor told me recently that it was because I never learned self- love or kindness toward myself from dealing with a verbally abusive caretaker.

Not all pwbpd's have been abused, but many of us have. Most of us can relate to simply feeling invalid.

Yea, I get the same way from time to time, even when I take my med's. Sometimes I feel like locking myself in the bathroom and having a good cry.

I have had a few days like that before the med helped. I felt it was a continual bungee jump. I hope you are doing better. And you find the right medication if that what works for you.

Unfortunately, Tink, I can relate a lot to your experience.

My mood goes up and down (and all around) so quickly ~ I can't keep up with it! I do tend to get into my usual deep funks of self-hate, which lasts much longer than these other moods. On a "normal day", however, my mood is all over the place & it's hard to keep control. I feel like a pinball on days like those.

Gentle sent your way!
