For a few days now I've been wondering if I've been exaggerating perfectly normal problems and turning them into an illness. Do I just say these things to fit in? But then it occures to me, don't borderlines often search out attention anyway? Do I belong here or not?!

You know I have that problem too. I have a hard time reading what other say they are going through and not feel like I am going through it too. It's like, I'll read so and so saying that they feel like blank and I will totally agree. It is hard to separate from what others feel to what you feel. To me it is like it is all the same...kind of lol. I would agree that borderlines search out attention; I mean, we are emotionally starving you know? But at the same time, I see us hiding from this attention for not feeling good enough for it. What a long strange trip it is... :/

I hate that statement. It makes it sound as though all BPD people are attention wh*res. I don't feel like one.

I don't feel like one either. In fact, I usually try to avoid attention. I still want it, of course, but it's more recognition I want than attention.

The whole "attention seeking" line of thought is just BS in my opinion. First of all, needing attention is human and normal. Second of all, even if someone is "seeking attention" in destructive ways that is still a huge issue that deserves help/treatment as well.

You don't strike me as wanting attention, and I can relate to wanting recognition. I don't think you're exaggerating, and I think you do belong here.
