help me decide

I decided I'm not going with the big tattoo (dragon koi) just yet, not because I'm afraid to.. but because it's expensive but I want to get one soon, to get my first one I decided on an inspirational or meaningful statement or word in Kanji (Japanese writing). I hve a few ideas that all mean something to me but can't decide So I'm asking your opinions.

I haven't voted yet...I'm split between "Fall Down Seven Get up Eight" and "Survivor". They both say more or less the same thing to me. Regardless of what happens, you have to pick yourself up and keep going, and that makes you a survivor. I'm kinda scared of my mind being set free...sounds like a horror movie and the other two don't hold much meaning for me personally, but I know you're big in to your art so maybe "artist" should be a consideration as well.

Here are my reasons: You're right on about the two first ones, "survivor" and 'fall down" . I know that over the years I have felt that I am a survivor, not in the sense I feel like a victim of anything or anyone but that of my own making, the challenges in life have knocked me down a bit but I always end up getting up and getting to the other side of the obstacle.

The mind one, well I think it relates to me being freed of my mind's way of faulty thinking. Being set free of being controlled by irrational fears, self loathing and the like..

Passion, well.. I'm very passionate about the things I'm into - to the point of obsession, and for better or worse, I'm quite fond of this trait of mine. it's made me the artist I am and when I go for something, I go all out and I don't think that's a bad thing most of the time

Artist, you know why. I'm not sure if that's a good one though not because it's not fitting. I like it but it's not quite as personal, nor is it as much of a sign of where I am right now. It is who I am very much but it's not all that unique.

Sandman, how dare you steal my future tattoo?! (Fall down seven times, stand up eight) I'm kidding buddy, go for it. It speaks to me a lot.

I've not spoken to you on here yet I don't think. I've got to say though from what I've read and heard about Borderline Personality disorder I think 'Survivor' or 'Fall down 7..' Is definitely what comes to mind as this very much what comes to my mind when I think of somebody who has to live with BPD. Also a big tattoo of a dragon koi would be amazing, I love this idea. I think you've got awesome taste in art!

hehe.. tbh that may be the one I go with anyway.. it really expresses what I'm like.

My advice is to take everyone's advice with a very fine grain of sand. I get that you want one, but don't just get one now because you want one now. A tattoo is VERY personal. It represents you, who you are, what you believe etc, and that can only come from you. If you're not sure of what you want or undecided meditate/think on it until you know..Ultimately, it is you that you have to please and no one else.

i just realized i have two and a half weeks left before i get my first tattoo. my guts just constricted painfully, haha. mostly from the price. but already paid for half of it...so anyhoo...

"Fall down seven, get up eight," is one of my favorite quotes ever. How could I not vote for that one?

whatever you decide just know its not temporary you can't get it removed easily.
