I began taking prozac a few weeks ago, i was paranoid it would make me manic, due to my bipolar diagnosis.
It has not, in fact it has helped lift my depression slightly. I am still emotionally unstable, and my abandonment issues are raging right now. I have posted on here before I believe I have been misdiagnosed. Right now I am almost certain, even my husband agrees I have more traits of bpd than bipolar. Now I don't know where to start... I know I need to find a pdoc before I have an emotional breakdown and destroy my marriage... But should I bring up the fact that I believe I was misdiagnosed? I feel lost.

I've read that Bipolar and BPD can co-exist. When you find a pdoc you could tell him you were diagnosed with Bipolar but have since discovered you have many more traits of BPD. Share your conviction and descriptions. Explore with him the possibility that BPD is the prominent disorder; Bipolar may play a small part in your diagnosis or even none. Most important is that you locate a pdoc as soon as possible. Good luck to you......best, grey

I would not suggest anything. it is up to the pdoc to analyze and diagnose your disorder and if you imply that you were misdiagnosed many times it can backfire. They might either shy away from diagnosing you because of feeling like you might deem their dx the same. They might not want to dx something that you suggest either. Be as thorough as you can about the traits you have that support bpd and the doc will see it.
