[(100 - x)/2] + x = your actual percentages...

so...

[(100 - 22)/2] + 22 = 61% Introvert vs 39% Extravert

[(100 - 25)/2] + 25 = 62.5% Feeling vs 37.5% Thinking
[(100 - 1)/2] + 1 = 50.5% Judging vs 49.5% Perceiving

eta: argh, looking back at this, not thinking about the formula and just seeing all the symbols and crap, it really DOES look like another language.......sorry...
Hey, I actually understand this! And I thought algebra was beyond me.

While your answer might explain something about percentage of either on or the other extreme, I'm not sure if that's relevant or the intent of the percentages or whether it's meaningful since their approach really one extreme vs the other. Otherwise that would be how they would hve posted it.

What I think it means is either that you are or aren't an introvert, extrovert or other aspect and to what extreme. Don't think the contrast between the two extremes was meant to be reflected as a percentage or they would have done so? I mean sure you can come up with that but is that meaningful?

As an example are we really x% extrovert and x% introvert? Not really . In the way that it's presented, it seems to me that you are either one or the other not really part of each or they would have used those percentages.

It's a nice formula but I just don't think it's really meaningful.

I believe we are (while those of us with BPD may think this way, our personalities are not black and white). And I have seen other personality tests post it the way DreamAddiction37 did.

Haha, appreciate the effort. I kinda see where you're going with it. Thanks for clarifying.

The profile on that should match if it's accurate. I wouldn't worry much about the percentages since none of the profiles differ. I mean if they went to the point of saying that someone that has a 22% Introversion it means _____, then that might matter but since they dont' talk about the effects of the percentages, the point is moot. It doesn't really go into that detail. They could have easily just said your result is INFJ period and it would mean the same thing. If I had the INFJ result and different percentages, I mean, I would still be reading the same profile as you in the end, so what does it matter here?

I'm just sayin
Yea, I get you. It's just a weird score compared to everyone else's.

I guess it means I'm not very obviously any of those things. Which means I may have given conflicting answers to certain similar scenarios used to figure out which trait is strongest.

do you do that intentionally or what? that you say things to completely invalidate whatever i say? i've noticed that A LOT. i don't want to think you're doing it just to me, that it's just how you are, but the fact that you seem to do it a lot to my posts kind of irritates me.

i'm not wanting to derail the thread or anything, but just wanted to get that out in the open since it's kind of been my trigger just about every time i freak out on this forum.

No I'm not trying to invalidate you but considering that you were explaining something to someone that may not have understood something I didn't want it to mislead anyone. I am in no way singling anyone out. It's nothing personal at all. NO matter who posted the explanation you did, I would have said the exact same thing.

Yes and in those cases that has weight to it. but no I don't think my analysis is due to my bpd. If they were to say you're on this scale of introvert to extrovert that's exactly what they would be saying but my point is that the test in this case does not do that and so that information is irrelevant.

I personally believe that the way the test taker wrote the test is fine and it doesn't need to be broken down in to further percentages. The test taker directly says that certain percentages mean a slight preference in a particular direction while others mean a much higher preference in that direction.

Breaking the numbers down further, in my opinion, is analyzing this entire thing way too much. All tests are subjective to at least some degree. If I gave a test as a classroom teacher and a student scored a 100%, does that mean a student knows all there is to know on a subject? Of course not, but I feel that's what the additional breaking down of the numbers is doing.

That's, of course, just my opinion on this subject. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, and just because you're not agreed with doesn't mean you're being invalidated. Much easier said than done, of course, as I have major issues with this as many of you know.

I didn't say your analysis was due to your BPD, I meant that people with BPD think in black and white terms...

But DreamAddiction37 was simply offering another point of view on the subject, that's all. She's just trying to contribute to the conversation in a way that interests her.

I was not against her point of view....at all. She has the right to say it. All I did was point out my own point of view and state that she, or anyone, should not feel invalidated if their point of view was not agreed to by others.

I said absolutely nothing against her or her point of view. All I did was point out my own. I deserve my point of view as much as anyone else's. Nothing was said against anyone's point of view, and I don't see how what I did does what you said it did.

I don't know, it probably doesn't. I didn't mean for it to post twice.

I'm not having a good night as it is. Sorry.

Which is fine. I offered my own opinion and perspective on the subject and it was never anything more. I hate that this has been made out to be that I have personally attacked someone.

Well, since these are my words being quoted I'll speak up. I don't think you have. I think sometimes it's difficult to interpret tone over the internet and that on a forum like this that can be all the more apparent. I think it was a simple misunderstanding. For my part, it was. On the part of DreamAddiction37, I don't know since she hasn't offered her opinion since I spoke up. I guess you'd have to ask her.
