My name is Caroline, and I'm new to PC. I came here in search of help and support because I couldn't afford my psychologist any longer. I'm so lost and numb-feeling. I used to feel emotion as a kid, but lost that sense over time. I can easily assume what a person should feel in some situations, but I never physically feel sad, anxious, happy, or mad--I only think about it. Although I don't feel my own emotions, I can sense other people's emotions in a snap through their pulse, body temperature, breathing, eye movements, facial expressions, words, and/or actions. I have tested it on different people but I fear that they lie to me because I look weird or scary. I'm seeking a logical answer for whatever is wrong with me, and this was the top suggested... problem that the Sanity Test suggested to me.
What do you guys think? ![]() |

Hello Caroline, welcome to Psych Central!
I'm wondering if the numb feeling is coming from anxiety. Anxiety can cut off all other feelings. Have you tried any relaxation techniques? ![]()

I deal with this every day, but I find it as a coping mechanism. The only problem is, I tend to daydream, get bored or dissociate without feeling anything, which is a problem in itself. No advice, as I sill haven't figured or what to do yet.
