Hello to everyone.
This is my first new thread post. I just joined a few hours ago.
I'm wondering if I have both BPD and bipolar 2.
The symptoms of both fit.
One BPD trait is different : My depressions last weeks at a time, but for now I'm mood reactive ( e.g. something good happens in my environment and I feel much better ) I've read that BPD feelings do not last for more than a few days, or even hours.
Thanks for reading.

This is disheartening news, but I kind of suspected as much after therapy is stirring up all of these emotional issues. Haven't been in therapy for about 6 years. Thanks for responding.

Sometimes when you have both BPD and BPII it can be hard to shake out what is causing what. Don't worry about it too much. As long as your meds are right and you have a good doctor the BPII isn't too hard to keep under control. For me, the right meds helped with a lot of my problems.

Most people with BPD have additional diagnosis, so don't feel like its a situation that you are alone in. Things can get better.
Thanks for this!

I'm sure you can since bpd is caused by different things than BP. Since symptoms overlap it's difficult to tell sometimes though if it's one, the other or both.

I actually am one that has both.

it shouldnt' be disheartening although initially it might be. the thing is that it's just what challenges you face. Actually knowing if it's both rather than one or the other can be a great thing, at least you and your doctors will know better what you're dealing with and you'll have a better chance of overcoming the problems. Take heart, there is much help for both disorders!
Thanks for this!

Thank-You, doglover1979 ~ I should have know, but maybe I didn't want to know that I have both ? My meds are good enough. But since March I've been having more sadness. The proc tried a higher dose of med, but the sides were unacceptable. This is why I've entered therapy to see if that helps. Ironically, in session I've discovered that I am dealing with BPD. A proc told me that years ago, but i wasn't ready to accept such a scary dx.

Hi & welcome . I think I have both. I have bpII dx & enough bpd traits. I also have adult add dx... I don't take bp meds anymore - the side effects did not outweigh benefits for me. The only one that seems to help are klonopin & sleep med when needed.

The bp forum & this bpd forum have been helpful support for me. Less meds talk in this one, I like that. I still had lengthy hypos & depressions on bp meds. Maybe the bp & add contributed to developing the bpd traits in me...

Anyway, welcome, you're not alone
