Tucson, AZ is the last place I ever wanna be. It may be where I grew up until age 13, but I consider SoCal my true home.
My mom is trying to guilt me into taking my two young children back there to visit. I have absolutely no intention of doing so. The last time I visited was in 2010 when my oldest was just 5 weeks old, and I caught the swine flu while there. I was reminded why I hate my step dad's family and most of my biological cousins as well. I vowed to never return, and I plan on sticking to that vow.
I know she can't make me go, but her pissy attitude about it is really starting to annoy me. I wish she'd just realize her husband's family is a huge trigger for me, as is that whole town in general and get off my case about it.

I hear ya, I hate being presured to do something that I don't want to do. Is it because she really wants to see you, or is it because she wants you to join the freak show? If it's because she wants to see you, she could always schedule a visit to see you, right? In this case, I believe whatever you decide to do will be the right decision.

Hold on to what you know is best for you. Don't let anyone guilt you into something that will be bad for you. Stick to your guns. ;-)

You know best how you feel about it and why. . . . and that must take precedence sometimes.

It's not because she wants to see me lol. She lives right here in SoCal. I should have clarified that in the OP.
She wants me to take a 9 hour car trip with her, my siblings (aged 6 and 11) and my two small children (aged 3 and 6 months) to basicly passify the freak show.
Not only is AZ miserably hot in the summer, it's like 27 degrees in the winter. There are a lot of triggers and bad memories there for me.
Thank you for the advice and support.

Thank you for the support in sticking to my guns guys. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't having an unreasonable BPD moment.

There is no way you could get me to do a road trip with 4 children! This is not BPD related this is general sanity related. I remember sitting between 2 of my nephews car seats when I was 10-11 on a 4-hour car trip and think I am still traumatized now! LOL

Believe me I understand. When Iw as under 18 I had no choice about going on 9 hour each way trips with my younger siblings. It's the worst. and I'm exclusively breastfeeding my 6 month old, so I feel it's simply out of the question for that reason too.

Breastfeeding would definitely make a 9 hour drive difficult. My son ate every 2-3 hours (still would get up in the night until he was 2) but he was a preemie. It seemed all I did was feed the kid. Even the 4 hour flight when my dad died was difficult and he was 20 months and no longer breastfeeding.

How early was he?
Both my girls were born by csection at 39 weeks.
I formula fed my first after the first few weeks, but this baby is my last (had a tubal during her birth) so I am determined to breastfeed through the first year at least.

He was 36w 1d. I had gallstones and was in the hospital for 5 weeks on morphine. Not a fun time. I had a 3 day induction from h&ll, 73 hours of labour. He was 4lbs 12oz and perfectly healthy. He did his car seat test at 12 hours and was off all monitoring (he drove them insane pulling off his leads). They only kept him because of jaundice, he was in the NICU for 5 days total. They pissed me off when they put "mother's narcotic drug use" as the reason for his prematurity. I did not want to be on morphine but 12 weeks of him kicking my gallbladder was not fun. I had emergency gallbladder surgery when he was 9 days old. No bad side effects for Robbie, but he is still underweight. Our family doc thinks that will always be the case.

That would piss me off too. Glad you and him made it through everything safe and sound. When he reaches puberty you may be surprised by a major growth spert, but then again he also may always be built on the slimmer side.

He is average for height and always has been (even without adjusting 4 weeks during infancy). At 8 he is just over 4' tall and just over 50lbs on a good day and does not stop eating. The doc just says it is going to get worse so start saving for grocery bills LOL

General sanity related lol! You're absolutely right! I didn't know how young your children were, and 4 of them! I wouldn't take that trip if I was paid.
