Anyone else have any experience with this?? I just got out of seeing a movie at the theater and I always have trouble separating reality again for a little while. Everything, including myself are new and different. It happens without seeing a movie too, but i'm just experiencing it right now. I also get upset because I wanted to be an actress when I was young lol

No one? I don't know if this is associated with the dissociation part of bpd.

I do experience derealization but what you described is very broad so perhaps that's why no one answered? .have a great day!

That sometimes happens to me, but more where I wish my life was like that. Then I daydream about it lol. Don't know if that's similar?

Thanks everyone! I have read that derealization is part of dissociation for some people. It's pretty interesting to read up on... Even things like not recognizing yourself in the mirror are part of it for some people. I feel totally disconnected, like I'm trying to survive while I'm looking in on everything from another planet, so maybe that explains why.

Yeah that happens to me every time I watch a movie. I also get depersonalization under periods of intense stress and anxiety, where I can see myself from above, as if I was my own guardian angel watching over myself. Its happened during intense bouts of crying as well.

I've gotten that before, thankfully only a few times now, where I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize myself I hate that feeling so much, its really bad when you are looking at yourself in the mirror and not recognizing the stranger staring back.
