Do any of you have an ADHD diagnosis in addition to BPD?

My psych today asked me if anyone had ever suggested that I might have ADHD. This was super surprising to me, as I teach in a behavior disabilities program and have A LOT of experience with ADHD and have never considered the possibility of having it myself. He said that ADHD can contribute to irritability and some mood instability, not to mention adding to my anxiety. Now that I think about it, and read the symptoms of it, I can see how it might be an issue.

I've been on a ton of different medications over the past 14 years, but my new doctor pointed out that no one has ever tried prescribing a stimulant. I also have a history of drug use, only stimulants. When using non-prescription stimulants, I have told him that I feel as though I think more clearly. He thinks I might have been self medicating for a problem that no one had realized was there.

He's hesitant to prescribe a stimulant now, since they are easily abused and I'm not that far removed from my drug use. He decided to try me on Wellbutrin for now, to see if it helped with the depression/anxiety, and since it has some limited effect on ADHD.

Anyone have experience with this?

I used to have an ADD diagnosis when I was a teenager. I know it's not the same but it's similar right?
My DBT therapist told me I don't have ADD. That the symptoms I was having, the inability I still have to focus at times is a feature of the BPD.

I also have ADHD. I have not had any success with any medications I've tried in helping me. Wellbutrin was one of them . . . any anti-depressant/anxiety med I've tried have always had the adverse effect on me. Everybody's different though and I sure hope it works for you.
