I'm not sure how many of you are on medication for BPD (or another psych illness) but I just wanted to make a post about how HAPPY I am that I'm on medication and how it has DRASTICALLY improved my quality of life!

I'm diagnosed Bipolar 1, ADHD, and most recently BPD. I take Saphris (for bipolar disorder) which is a newer atypical anti-psychotic, similar to drugs like Geodon, Abilify, and Risperdal, (I've taken them all as well) but found that Saphris works the best for me, with the least amount of side effects.

I've noticed that although I take it for bipolar disorder, it has helped SIGNIFICANTLY with my BPD symptoms! So much in fact that I hope I NEVER have to go without it! I noticed that since being medicated, my relationships with people are much better, I'm A LOT less paranoid, I get less anxious, and my intense episodic "emotional fits" are less frequent and less severe. In fact I've noticed that since being medicated, my "fits" only really happen when I've been intoxicated. (So I've had to cut back on drinking). I also used to have really bad days where I would freak out about "not knowing who I am" because I keep changing my major and what I want do with school... well that hasn't happened in a really long time either. I'm more focused with school and have a stronger "sense of identity"

Anyway I just wanted to make a post about how grateful I am that I've been put on medication, because it helps so much with my BPD symptoms! I know not all medications work the same for everyone, but this type of drug has worked so well for me I would highly suggest looking into and asking your doctor about it if you suffer from BPD but haven't been put on medication. I'm not even sure if you can get atypical anti-psychotics for BPD? (because I know they are mainly used to treat Axis 1 diagnoses) but it's definitely worth asking about.

Just wanted to provide my success story with medication and hope it helps someone!

This is actually really good to hear. I was on an anti depressant years ago which made me a lot worse and then for the last two months I've been on pristiq and I've gotten way worse than usual again. I know I need meds but it's hard to have hope of finding anything good when my experiences have been so bad.
Really glad something is working so well for you, guess I'll keep trying stuff until something works!

the new pill I have been taking is methoprazine 25mg mostly helps out for sleep but I have noticed that I have been less suicidal with the medication change which is greatly improved. since early 2 months ago before this 7 weeks I was always determining or calculating my next move to try to hurt or harm myself. I don't say the voices have stopped to notice that they talk about me hurting or harming me or others.

I am on Effexor, ativan, methoprazine, haldol wellbutrin, and benztropine.
