Has anyone been to one? I go tomorrow morning and not sure what to expect. I was told to bring a binder and that is all the information I have. My actual group starts February 12th.

I am sure the orientation will be be a get to know each other and information on how the process will work.

There will probably be some hand outs with information on skills etc. I had DBT about 11 years ago and I still grab my notebook from time to time.

Good Luck!
Thanks for this!

Thanks. I figured that is what will be happening. I just don't like not knowing.

We don't have DBT classes in Lincoln, Nebraska. I would go to DBT classes if I could. I still can't believe in a city of 265,404 people, we don't have DBT. How lame!

I remember you saying that the meds you're taking make it difficult to remember things at times, so maybe it would be a good idea to bring a voice recorder. A lot of cell phones have voice recorders on them. My lady would go to therapy, and I'd ask her how it went, and she said because of the meds she's taking- it's hard for her to tell me everything they covered. So it might help recovery to go back and listen to it again for a recap.

I think it's awesome you're doing this, and I'm proud of you for doing so.

I take notes of everything that happens at doctors/therapy appointments and will do the same with DBT. My memory is not quite as bad as it was but I had a GP appointment today and had to write down what I needed to talk to him about and what meds I needed renewing.

I will update tomorrow once I am home again.

Congrats on starting your DBT. My T told me yesterday that my DBT will start Feb. 24th. Not sure when my orientation will be. Good luck and I really hope it goes well for you.

Hi! I started DBT last year, and I use my binder a lot! You get tons of handouts about skills and emotions. Also, I fill out a diary card every day that requires me to list how I'm feeling on a scale of 1 to 5 in many categories - suicidal, happy, sad, angry, disconnected. It is very useful. I know my binder is my best friend.

Good luck!! I hope it helps.

It went well. There are about 10 of us. One girl came 25 minutes late which made me angry, then she asked stupid questions which if she had been on time she would have known about.

Just realized the day that I start DBT is the same day as my next pdoc appointment so I will be at the hospital from 9:30-2. Not looking forward to that
