I sort of knew I that I have it for a while, but it's now "official". Does having this diagnosis effect me in any way in society? Like who all will know? (Government, etc.)

Also, I've seen a lot of stuff about relationships and BPD and how they're unsuccessful. Things saying that people shouldn't date or be friends with someone that has it. I personally have had trouble with relationships in the past. Is there no hope??

Right now I'm working with my therapist and trying to manage symptoms and improve. I'm trying my hardest to be optimistic, but it feels almost impossible sometimes.

So I guess I'm here to reach out and get some advice.

Hi Helicoptermoon,

I don't know what's the extent of government spying on Medical records, but unless you want to work for the government, I wouldn't waste time on this.
I've had difficult relationships in the past, but my current partner is very supportive and loving. I think when you meet someone who's a good match and you want to stay together, you can work through a lot of things, as long as attraction and trust is there. So don't lose hope over social stigma.
Keep working with your therapist and try to stay positive, your chances of getting better are higher then. People do recover from it, but that may take some time, so be patient.

Good luck!

There is hope, the internet has a lot of stigma regarding BPD. Relationships can be difficult yes but you can get better. The government won't care they are too busy fighting the recession! Anyway it's illegal to discriminate because of a mental health issue

everyone has there epiphany others it is mental illness/health all of us together are holding each others hands walking into the bright light with our shades on. As it covers us all we begin to feel better...its a loving and peaceful giving us a step up not a step back like we have in times when we feel uncertain. It covers everything and things flow certainly faster then it did before we were blocked up full of darkness. We will all triumph together as long as we continue to hold hands
