Hi Everyone,
I am sorry if this is a repeated topic. I have recently been diagnosed with BPD. I don't see the psychiatrist again for a few more weeks and I wanted to get started learning about DBT and using some DBT skills. Is there a book that you guys would recommend as the best? I have a strong understanding of CBT and mindfulness. I also have a strong background in psychology and social work...so I really don't want a book that is going to be very basic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook: Practical DBT Exercises for Learning Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation & ... Tolerance (New Harbinger Self-Help Workbook) is the best I've seen thus far.
http://www.amazon.com/Dialectical-Be...1&keywords=dbt The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Diary: Monitoring Your Emotional Regulation Day by Day (has simple but very clear information about the skills, and then a weekly diary) http://www.amazon.com/Dialectical-Be...6&keywords=dbt I also own The Expanded Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Training Manual: Practical DBT for Self-Help, and Individual & Group Treatment Settings, which has been a bit complicated for me at times but may be more helpful to you. It's geared towards practitioners or as a self-help book. http://www.amazon.com/Expanded-Diale...5&keywords=dbt I think all around the first one I recommended is the best but I'd check out the reviews of each and then decide. ![]() Last edited by solaced; Apr 22, 2014 at 01:05 PM. |

My suggestion is not on the level that I guess that you asked for but it seems to be about next phase of DBT? and other BPD Or me being too new misunderstand their text. Current Models |

I will look at DBT books now coming Monday April 28th.
I feel unsure of on which level I should look into. I am new to the deeper level but do know more than a typical beginner would do. What makes me so disappointed is that I fail to find the good links on what to do for us that fail to do home work. Should we just accept that we are some DBT misfits that will have no alternatives? I feel left in the cold or Lost in the wilderness. |
