do daily affirmations work for you?

if so, what are they?

my one right now is: "YOU ARE OKAY WHERE YOU ARE RIGHT NOW."

but, i think about it, and i'm not. i'm nowhere.

i do nothing
i don't contribute to society
i want to make money but i can't deal with the pressures of a job
i keep quitting school because i can't deal with it.

i'm not okay

while the idea of affirmations are great, I feel you really have to believe them for them to have an impact. if you want to feel ok about yourself, choose an affirmation that is going to make you feel ok about yourself, not make you a hypocrite or fibber. maybe I am doing the best of my ability right now and I feel good about that. I am strong and resilient. find things that are true about you and celebrate those things.

I do find affirmations do help sometimes. I like songs - they carry me past words to place in the heart. Josh Groban sings YOU LIFT ME UP and a song about THE PRAYER. Sometimes just experiencing nature without expectation gives me the feeling of what being young and innocent is. For me poems become aspirations.
"And I rest by the still waters,
And lay my burdens down,
And peace and love and onlyness
Embrace me and surround."
I just feel sometimes the stillness of the dawn and it just lifts me up out of my depression, and I move on into the challenges of my day. Another affirmation that keeps me from sinking in the quagmire of this world is All Roads Lead Home. I guess when I connect with that feeling no matter what I am going through it wakes me up to the fact that this will bring me to where I'm going.
