Have just been started on Quetiapine 50mg.
Am already on venlafaxine 150mg.

Does anyone else with a diagnosis of only BPD and not bipolar take this medication and does it help?

I was diagnosed with bipolar before but it was changed to bpd. My counsellor Is convinced I have both and my psychologist thinks I only have bipolar. I am wondering if this medication means my psychiatrist also thinks I may be bipolar or whether it's normal to prescribe for BPD on its own

I only took it for sleep, and then I was switched to a different one. I had a low dose like you do. I was under the impression that for bipolar, the dose would be much higher.

I was prescribed it years ago for 600mg I stopped taking it within the first week because of the side effects.

I agreed to try again on the basis of starting at the smallest dose ams gradually increasing.

My psychiatrist said that for mood stabilising effects the smaller doses are better and they only go up to the higher doses for psychosis.

I think it's less prescribed in the UK for sleep. I read somewhere

Hows it working so far? I am considering a mood stabilizer again. I took lamictal for a bit. Do you feel effexor is helping your mood?

It helped my mood for about a 6 month period and got me out of the depression I was in at the time. But even when they increased the dose it didn't seem to make any difference since that first 6 months. I was on 225mg and decided to go back down to 150mg. I think I would get worse without it but it doesn't seem to do much now.. At first I thought it was a miracle no anxiety! Less intense depression and a normal sleeping pattern with no awful side effects!
I was on lamictal years ago and my mood was more stable but I couldn't take the brain fog and memory loss...

3rd day of Quetiapine now and I feel very relaxed, but also I have no mental or social energy I am not exactly lethargic more mentally numb. And maybe feel a bit sick when I eat

Hmm, that doesn't sound too good... I know that feeling, like thinking is too hard? I was on an atypical AP that made me feel that way - it would wear off about after 12 hours and I would feel better so I knew it was the drug... I am hoping to find something that helps my apathy. I am so lazy The lazy disease I call it... no motivation!

Yeah it's rubbish but it's not painful. I'm just enjoying a break from the intensity I suppose.

Struggling to get through the day at work though. I haven't the energy for it

Yipes, I bet. When I was on mine even the easiest cases at work felt overwhelming. But yes, it can be nice to feel calm when the rampage is on.

Drove to my friends house after work and forgot to bring the seroquel. I keep a few effector in my purse just in case because the withdrawal symptoms are so instant that i cannot drive the day after missing a dose!
Assuming as I am on such a low dose of the seroquel that i won't notice any withdrawal.

Yup, I've been using Quetiapine 50 mg bid and 300 hs for a year or more. It along with Welbrutrin and a couple other drugs have kept me stable. I have BPD, GAD and Social Phobia. I'm not Bipolar. Each of us is so different though that it's really hard to compare. We each have different diagnoses and varying degrees of things and the drugs all work differently for each of us and our doctors each have different ideas. Hope things work out for you.

I take Quetiapine (Seroquel) at night along with my antidepressants. It has been a lifesaver for me. Sometimes in the past I would get in a screaming and crying fit and taking my Seroquel would calm me down.

Maybe it will help with the intense Depression and the mood swings... But I'm in a real low, flat and apathetic place right now.

Yep, it is definitely a mess for our poor Pdocs. Sometime last year we did a gene test through one of the pharmaco companies to see which of my enzymes did their duty (and metabolized pills), and one of my liver enzymes which process many SSRI and SNRI does not function or is so low functioning it might as well not be there. This greatly affects many things for those drugs.

Throw in receptor affinities and if our bodies do the correct chemistry with the connections... and yea.
