I'm doing really good. I'm in my last module in DBT and feel that it is really helping me. But, I'm so lonely. I just can't get close to anyone. I can't trust myself and I can't trust others. It's the same old pattern. I get a bit close with someone and then I bolt. How do we stop this?

Hello Jean, it takes time to be able to trust again. You said you are doing well on the DBT. Try to focus on the positives, you sound like you are making great strides, Well done! You should be proud of yourself. DBT is hard work and it is obvoiusly paying off.

Hi Jean, I was wondering, if you could share your experience with DBT? What is it like? How long have you been in DBT?

I'll go to sessions and do the homework, but I'm not going to worry myself about "getting it" anymore." And voila, something happened. I agreed to let my Higher Power take care of it . . . I willingly surrendered to God's mercy and I feel so much better. So all I can say is that it is a really good program. It helped me look at myself and try stuff that might help me. Getting therapy every week is really helpful. Sixteen months of therapy every week is great. You can learn a lot about yourself and maybe how you can think about life differently. I would say definitely take DBT if you are offered it. ![]() |
