I have the BPD diagnosis. Have had it for years now and think I had the condition for longer than I have been diagnosed with it. My dad abused me I believe that's why I have this illness. He was severely abusive both Verbally and Physically. No Sexual abuse thank god. The relationship with my dad is still horrible. He still abuses me Verbally all the time. And when Christmas comes around he expects me to come all the way to where he lives in the west Valley to get my presents. I still haven't gotten my present for last Christmas yet. I got the BPD diagnosis when I was homeless when I was finally able to get health insurance and I went to my first actual Psychiatrist. The only other thing I had been to was a Psychologist had never been to a Psychiatrist until I became homeless. I think being homeless worsened my BPD too, because I had to go through that for a year.

I have a boyfriend named Daniel who I met on Facebook and we have been together since March 6th, 2019. He has Asperger's Syndrome and a master's in homeland security studies and a 4.0  Diagnosis: Borderline Personality Disorder Schizoaffective Disorder PTSD ADHD Social Anxiety Disorder Medical problems: Fibromyalgia Lupus IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) Asthma Psych meds: Haloperidol 15 MG Desipramine 75 MG Bupropion 150 MG Prazosin 1 MG Lamotrigine 200 MG Benztropine 1 MG

 and welcome to Psych Central!!! I'm sorry to hear that your dad is so abusive. I'd let him keep his Christmas presents!!! My father is verbally abusive. He now lives by himself in the house next to mine. My sister, mom, and I live in my house as none of us could continue to tolerate his abusive behavior. We check in on him, but then we get out before the abuse starts, or if it starts.It's a relief to get a diagnosis, but also hard to wrap your head around once you get it.
