So, I do this thing that when I'm irrationally upset I do everything to disconnect from people. I remove profile information (which is why my profile is bare btw), delete friends, put cryptic messages, then delete everything I've ever posted (even if that's hundreds of posts). Do you all do things like this, that when you're upset you do everything in your power to disconnect? The crazy thing is, though, I want people to stop me and talk to me, show they care, because most of the time I feel like they don't. Maybe it's just me trying to get attention through drastic behavior, so can anyone here relate?

I'm in a constant state of disconnection in the real world .... I push people away all the time ... My facebook feels all fake - I'm always posting "happy" fake posts so no one knows what's really going on on the inside. I make facebook friends only to delete them sometime later. And I'm known to get into facebook debates oh so many times so I'm u friended too.

Sorry, know you're talking about psych central but I can relate to it on fb.

Yes I've done this before - its simply a reaction to an extreme amount of emotional distress. We feel we need some finality, a line drawn under something difficult we feel we must move on from.

What was it that triggered this? Sadly even PC is not without conflict. I don't entirely agree with the procedures for dealing with it but as the ignore button and option for board deletion is all we have - you can only but make full use of it and see whether that helps you to feel more able to cope with resuming normal membership here.

It may have been something else entirely in which case I hope you get a resolution to it soon, sometimes all we can do is make a clean break and continue life without that person, place or whatever. I hope it doesn't come to that for you though
