So it happened again..... Went out with a friend coz she wanted to try and cheer me up and I spent a good £100

I don't have that kinda money to just spend it's just sent me further into my overdraft

Now I feel really crap, and it's not like I can return the stuff because I bought most of it as presents and I don't know what to do :/

Just hate myself

Budget tighter the rest of the month? I'm sorry you're feeling badly and that you got into a tight situation.
Thanks for this!

I think we've all done this at one time or another.
If you haven't worn it or eaten it, you can ALWAYS return it! The people you care about that you've bought the gifts for really don't want you to go in debt to show them how much you care about them.
One of the things I've learned to do it to never, ever take my debit card with me on a fun night on the town. I tuck the amount I plan to spend in a pocket in my purse and when that's gone, there ain't no more.
Hope things work out.

Thanks guys. I know I should beat myself up about it, and it's just one of those things, but it's quite hard not to when you feel crap :/

Jaybird57 I suppose I could.... I don't think I could bring myself to do it when people know I've got them presents :/

Angelique67 the budgets already tight, but I'm guessing it'll have to be even more so now! I really struggle with budgets and stuff :/

I'm in debt at the moment too and likely to become more so what with Xmas approaching. Budgets don't work with an irrational mind - overspending is done on impulse, the best laid plains can't withstand that. It's like telling a drowning person not to swallow water.

It's worth trying to deal with the root of the issue - what's driving you to fill your life with needless stuff? I think for me it stems from the emotional distance i felt between my mother and myself during childhood. She used to ply with me gifts when i just wanted love. So i associate possessions with the latter. Perhaps a similar sort of scenario applies to you? I hope you find peace with the situation soon.

I'm sorry you're in this situation.

I can be really impulsive at times and buy stuff that I really shouldn't be buying.

I hope you find a solution to your current situation.

Be well.

I like the annalogy about swallowing water and drowning - makes a lot of sense..... In more ways than one :/?

I suppose it's just one of those things, I just can help but hate myself when I look at the receipts for stupid amounts. Sometimes I just consider myself pathetic

You are not alone.

Learn from your mistake. Sounds like you have - you should pat yourself on the back! Great awareness you have!!

Been there. I'm currently selling 3,000 dollars worth of useless impulsive stuff I recently purchased. I'm in debt. Amazing how I get the feeling that buying this or that will make me feel better - then a week later I feel like I need something else.

Sorry you feeling low. I do things like that too on impulse.
I used to be a lot worse a few years ago. If any one was complaining to me that they had no money, i would give then what i had then i would have mothing and have to go with out food and feel like crap. Then i would be so mad at my self for being stupid.
Have you left your self without food?

I've left myself in a lot of trouble money wise, not without food - as my flat mate ensures there's stuff in the house, and we have a joint account so that everything is paid for.

Although I'm now miles in my overdraft, and still unable to stop this, having spent another £200 today on pointless crap

Anything you can return? Did something trigger today's shopping spree?

See my other post titled 'doctors' that sorta explains about today's crap!

I could have returned it if I hadn't already taken all the labels off other stuff is like a mass amount of alchohol which is non returnable, and will probably end up causing more issues :/

I'm so sorry. That would set off anyone, but I really hope you don't drink too much. I don't want you to get sick from that!
