My sons spent Christmas with me. hooray. I know they r addicted to weed. Ugh. I am so disgusted I could scream. Addiction is so for the weak. I had an entire family Hx of drunks and pill pushers and I never got addicted. Now after all the years they spent in DaRE the free opportunity to go into therapy - I hear nothing wrong mom. Right? I guess they think I do not know really I am in the generation that started all of this with drugs. Love peace and harmony love children haight ashbury Woodstock war protestors that is my generation.
I am using the alanon and DBT stuff to tolerate and radically accept this. I guess someday they will hit their bottoms and get help. Not holding my breath. My mother and their other grandmother were addicted until they died. |

I'm sorry to hear that.
I would find that distressing, personally. Sure, I experimented when I was younger - but I'd never say I was addicted. Just didn't work for me. Made me extremely paranoid with hallucinations. But then again I think I smoked cheap stuff with goodness knows what was in it! Maybe you need to rethink your concept of "addiction is for the weak". I get that you grew up in an environment where you could have swung that way, but didn't. Addiction can be a serious condition that requires intervention, just as a person with a mental health condition requires intervention. I get that the one is self inflicted and the other one isn't, but they both require professional help. I'm not entirely sure why you would need to "accept" their behavior..... Have you posted about this in the Addiction Forums? |

Hey dancinglady, so sorry to hear about this
![]() However, the one thing I do know from doing some scientific research on drugs, is that weed is one of the least addictive drugs out there. In fact, many sources say it is NOT addictive. So, the prognosis for a habitual weed smoker is good, apparently. I know that doesn't help, but ... at least they're not addicted to harder drugs. In any case, ![]() |

Does this interfere with their everyday lifes?
Such as sable jobs, living independently; as much one can do in today's society. I currently smoke to have some relief from anxiety, BPD, and firbo. That has a double edge sword ![]()

I have talked to my T. He agrees with all if you. No it is not interfering with their daily lives except no motivation.
I just do not feel comfortable that they depend on outside sources to manage their lives. If they drank alcohol in excess I would feel the same way. I want them to manage life in healthy ways. Like what DBT teaches you. |
