College is so overwhelming.
I had to withdraw from Fall semester due to arising symptoms of my disorder.
I was first going for Nursing until I withdrew.
Now, I'm going for Spanish. I just started the Spring semester.
I already dropped one class because I had a heavy class load and my therapist suggested I do so before it gets too much like last time. I'm switching my English class to another Spanish class. It will help relieve some overwhelming stress.

My issue is that I get in a mood where I'm so excited and I can do anything to I will never make it. It's complicated.
Does anyone have tips to stay on task?

This is definitely your Bipolar disorder working its magic. The mania makes you think you can do anything, and the depression makes it seem impossible.

I forget - are you taking a mood stabilizer to reduce your hypomania/mania ?

That's where I'd start. Once your moods stabilize a bit, I'd talk this over with a school counselor (classes, not the illness), and get a second opinion from a trusted family member (someone you can confide in), to see if you can "handle it". Finally, you yourself think long and hard about your plan. Sleep on it, a few days, just to make sure it's not impulsive, and if, after a few days, you're still sure you can handle the classload, you can be more confident of it. How long are your cycles ?

School counselors are usually (or should be) trained to figure out, given your interests and abilities, what is a good classload for you. You could mention having health problems (just don't be specific), so they can factor that in. This is definitely a good resource for you.

I was taking Trileptal for a mood stabilizer, but it's the only medicine I couldn't get refilled at the school clinic. I have to wait until the 9th to see the doctor for more refill of a mood stabilizer and other medication. It's a big mess dealing with clinics.
Right now I'm only taking an anti-depressant and anti-psychotics. I do have Trileptal of a smaller dose. I guess I can take those for now.
I wasn't on my medicine long enough to stabilize fully.

I think getting out of History and English will start me off better because I dread these subjects. I'm glad I'm balancing everything now where I can get a refill!

I'm taking statistics, intermediate Spanish 1&2, and art appreciation. After English and history is out of the picture. Those classes are causing me a lot of unwanted stress.

Ok, stick with your mood stabilizer. For some people, it really does wonders. Don't miss any days, if you can help it.

BTW, you do know that we have a separate Bipoloar forum, right ? Great people there, who will give you much better advice than me. Look for advice from member "~Christina". She's one smart cookie !

Once you sign up here, you have access to ALL forums !!! Isn't that cool ! BTW, just because your Dx says Bipoloar or BPD, doesn't mean you can't access forums for other conditions. You can access any and all forums, sometimes just pop in to see what people are saying.

There are forums for all kinds of things. Men/women-specific forums, physical health, mental health, social chat, career improvement, etc, etc. You should find Bipolar from the main index (described below).

You see the breadcrumb links up top that look like this ? Just click on "Forums at Psych Central". That will take you to the index of all forums. From there, just feel free to enter any of the forums. You have access to all !

Up top:
Forums at Psych Central > Mental Health Support > Personality Place > Borderline Personality Disorder
