I'm sorry but I don't know what hypothesis you are referring to. I must be missing something in the post.

well BPD is what is put forward in the book Starry Starry Night: Life and Psychiatric History of Vincent van Gogh, according to wiki so seems a pretty well known theory

well since all the info is second hand, we can't really know
there's been lot's of theories about potential illnesses he could have suffered (mental and physical like syphillis)
