Hey folks. I'm thinking a lot about this topic - my last NHS counsellor basically told me that my bisexuality was CAUSED by my BPD and the "unstable identity" that causes... He was telling me I'm really a lesbian and just too scared to admit it, which is total rubbish. Has anyone else bi had a counsellor come out with this kind of stuff?

Wow.....BPD can involve identity and gender issues but to say that it causes it is off to me. How can anyone else say what you are but you?? I would be leery of this therapist. How about finding another one?

Oh I am in the process of that, don't worry! He was really not helpful, in so many ways... My folks have paid for a few private sessions and I'm waiting to start with another NHS cllr.

Ha ha I get that one! Feeling very asexual at the moment but know that's just because I'm on a big big big downer. Usually very securely and happily bi!

Well, I'm bisexual with BPD although I couldn't tell you which I noticed first. But that would be very interesting if what your NHS counsellor is true. Unfortunately, I started going back to therapy a few weeks before deployment so I currently have few options to deal with all my issues (as I'm 2 months into deployment now).

I believe i am bisexual. I've always been men and had been with my first girlfriend for about 16 mos. she can not handle my bdp even during this recovery period. she used to always say that I am straight and not bisexual. but I am attracted to both. for me, I do not feel that gender issues played a part of my bdp

I would get a new T. That's a crock of ****. Sexuality is an inherently individual thing, and anyone that believes a mental illness causes "sexual confusion" is NOT on the right track with being the kind of T anyone needs. Good luck.
