What do you do when you have to wait the whole week before you can go to counseling again. Some days I feel like I need to talk all day. I joined here so I could find people to talk to when I feel bad.

That is exactly what I do: come on Psych Central and go to one of the forums and read posts and reply. It really helps me.

Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems though still there are more manageable. There are lots of compassionate people here that can make the load lighter by sharing and caring. Feel free to participate actively at Psych Central.

Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.

I've skipped two weeks running and not managed to speak to therapist, argh! Worried they will assign my slot to another person. But get such panic attacks.

I'm the total opposite - I'm like "Noooo not counselling!"

Well - you did the right thing in coming here! I'm glad you found PC!
I'm not in therapy - I do wish I could be in therapy, but I'm hanging in there.

Counseling doesn't really help me so I don't think about it much.

I find this more often than not, but I still go because I know that, even if I'm not able to perceive it, it's still helping me somewhat. I think. I hope.

To the OP, I used to feel the same way. And it truly can be difficult. I think that's part of getting a more healthy perspective is learning how to self-soothe and regulate your emotions in between your therapy appointments. No examples come readily to mind (I apologize, it's been a hectic day), but I do know that there are some good resources online from which you can gain some information. I have searched "DBT resources" or "dialectical behavioral therapy" or something to that effect and have come up with good info.
