When there's more than one self-conscious agent existing in the same world, it's quite possible that there would be some conflict of interests, and this is the case in humans. The whole process of evolution is based on competition, survival of the fittest. No matter how much socialists etc try to change the game to a win-win one, still the competition is the essential part of the life.

Right now I'm a loser, a real nerdy loser, literally. I can imagine myself becoming a winner, but this will be at the expense of some other people losing. Would I feel happy? I don't think so.

Bottom line: I don't want to live in a world with win-lose rules. How can I deal with this? Sometimes I think about putting my sense of empathy into trash, and become an asshole winner just like many others... but idk, I feel too confused.
Thanks for this!

Right now, you're subscribed to what could be considered a nihilist worldview. If you're interested in philosophy, I recommend reading some of the work by Albert Camus, who puts forward his theory of Absurdism, which takes nihilism and adds a positive twist.

In essence (and this takes a while to come to grips with): Life has no purpose, is unfair and yes, has winners and losers. But instead of taking all of this and letting it get you down, and feel despondent, let it empower you. You have nothing to lose in trying to be winner yourself. Win or lose, this is your life, your experiences, your journey. For that reason alone you should embrace it, and try find joy in the absurdity of it all.

I think it depends on what your definitions of winning and losing are.

An example: Suppose someone tells you that s/he really loves you, but you don't find them attractive at all. What can you do?

Maybe I should've chosen the title "The win-lose nature of the dating world". Actually that's my problem right now, and the reason I often think black/white is that few months ago, I got officially betrayed by the nicest girl I ever known...
