Hi. I've been diagnosed with BPD since 2010 (I think?) I diagnosed myself before a doctor did. I was improperly diagnosed with bipolar disorder as a teenager but when I came across information on BPD I was shocked at how 100% accurate it was and that what I have (what I am?) has a name.
I was motivated to join this site today because I've had such a horrible past few years and I realized that no one would ever understand what it's really like to live with this disorder.
They don't understand the intensity of emotions, the irrational thoughts, the dissociation, the constant instability, the lack of a real self image...etc
I need people who know and will understand.
So I'm here. Anyone who wants to talk or be friends please do.
I'm also diagnosed with chronic depression, panic disorder, and some other things. But I know BPD is the real reason I suffer so much and I personally believe it's the main cause of my depression and anxiety.

Anyway it's nice to meet you all and I hope to meet some friends in a world of people who I just feel alienated from honestly.
Hugs from:

Welcome to Psych Central (PC). I am sorry you have suffered from BPD. Glad you have joined our community. Maybe a friend you meet here at PC will help you with sharing what you are going through.

Besides being an active participant in helping oneself at Psych Cental, many people also help support each other by replying to other people's posts. Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems are more manageable the more they help others.

Many people here at PC find they can share these feelings and what they are going through with the confidence that people go through similar things and can empathize. So many forums are offered as well as Chatrooms (after you have 5 posts or comments on others posts).

You can also be an active member in other ways like supporting others in their questions, reading articles and posts http://forums.psychcentral.com that are applicable to your area of concern.

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.

Hi strangebotwin,

Welcome to Psych Central. I have a similar story, as I have been misdiagnosed with Bipolar for 10 years before getting the right diagnosis. I self-diagnosed 10 years ago but none of my pdocs or Ts believed me, so I ended up thinking I didn't really have BPD in the end. I've been diagnosed with it only some months ago, and I feel quite relieved.

You won't be alienated here, you will find many similar people.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
