Ok, so I flew off the handle like crazy yesterday. I accidentally left my cell phone at my place and I went crazy because my Fiance didn't tell his dad to wait before leaving so I could go get my phone. He didn't even bother to ask me if I wanted to get my phone. That really pissed me off. I blew up on his *** like crazy and I was calling him names and cursing at him. We eventually made up, but it was a couple hours before that happened. I don't think my meds are working like they should be. I mean I was really behaving horribly. I yelled in front of my Fiance's dad and when we went to the Mexican fast food place I was yelling at him in front of the cashier. It was really horrible behavior, I was acting like I usually acted before I was on meds. I don't know what to do, because I don't see my pdoc for another month.
Also, me and my Fiance are getting married on October 30th, 2015. That might be one of the reasons we are fighting a lot. I looked it up and apparently it's common for couples to fight right before their wedding because of all the stress (usually). I'm really not sure what's causing the horrible irritability and the fights that I keep starting. But some people on the BP section of the forums say they think it might be my BPD. Which I don't deny would make sense.

My pdoc said there really aren't any meds for BPD, just for some of the symptoms. That's why he didn't add any when he diagnosed me with BPD. He just left me on the Schizoaffective meds. BPD is very much a therapy and recognizing signs, unfortunately. A lot of people use DBT here. I use ACT. Either is pretty affective if you commit. You should def talk to your pdoc asap.

The meds can and do help some people, some of the time, but don't make the mistake of counting on them to completely control your BPD.
That's your job, the meds are just prescribed to help get you to that point. Logic dictates that you can't medicate personality... It takes alot of rewiring in therapy, which means it takes alot of commitment to WANT to behave more appropriately, more rationally, more logically... Meds can only do so much, if they even happen to do anything at all.

From everything i have been told by my DR, by my own research ( showering the web day and night) meds won't directly help with core of BPD, what they do/can help with is the outlining symptoms so that the person can have an easier time focusing on the core issues. I agree with everyone else (though have yet to fully commit ) that it appears that DBT and its various other methods seem to help with the core dilemmas of BPD more effectively, though don't count meds out of the equation, at least in my opinion. This is just my .02 worth, hope it helps.
Best of luck, Arctos |
