It has been almost two years since I was diagnosed with BPD and how my life has changed. I was considered higher functioning (whatever that is supposed to mean) at that time and right now I don't have enough of the symptoms to qualify as BPD under the DSM V. My life has changed so much in these last two years, while there are times/days/weeks were I am definitely BPD, most of the time I feel pretty symptom free.

How did you do it?! I was diagnosed with BPD 3 days ago, also as high functioning. I'm so nervous, I don't know what to expect.

Lots of reading, therapy, meds, and DBT. I also have a hugely supportive husband that has been my rock through it all.

Everyone's journey is different and it is not easy but it is possible to get and keep things under control. BPD never goes fully away you just learn to cope better.

Yay! Congrats! I am similar to you, diagnosed almost 2 years ago. Doing a lot better because of DBT, reading etc. I am currently in the 5th month of going off SSRIs. I am at such a low dose now that I think I will actually be able to do it this time.

I can't say I am cured, but I am a lot better then I was. I realize this is an on-going thing and I need to work every day on changing the thought patterns that I lived with all of my life.
Thanks for this!
