I'm not sure if I had posted this in the past but I was wondering if anyone had PMDD as well as BPD.

I feel like I have an exceptionally hard time during PMDD like I explode twice as badly, my anger is SOO extreme and usually during this time is when I end up breaking and smashing things.

Sometimes it starts up to 2 weeks prior to the start of my period sometimes lasting into the last day of my period. After tracking my mood with the DBT diary card I noticed I have about 1 good week a month and that is the week after my period.

I have been on birth control and that didn't help the PMDD and I haven't brought it up to my doc since because I feel like so much of my time is spent focusing on BPD symptoms and therapy but I really would like to start taking care of the other stuff I have besides BPD because it feels like it's hindering my progress.

I am menopausal but before PMDD and BPD were a part of my life. Oh, the rages, the anger, the verbal fights with whatever SO I had in my life at the time.

So not fun. So much chaos.

Birth control pills made my PMDD much worse! It caused me to have panic attacks for the first time in years and
Possible trigger:

I am much the same with the anger. I react much more extremely when I'm hormonal. I feel out of control, almost like a different person. I treat mine with herbal supplements, self-care, and tracking my period and my moods. I use "menstrual calendar" for iphone. There's a free version but I paid a few dollars for the full version because you can add in symptoms and other things you want to track. My boyfriend knows to tread much more lightly the week or so before my period but last month it was a week late and this month it came a week early so neither of us knew I was extra hormonal the week that I was "nuts."

Yeah it so chaotic it's horrible I often wondered if I was going to have PMDD and BPD right to menopause only to continue to have severe mood swing I already have hot flashes and cold sweats because I have hyperhydrosis just feeling like it could never end.

Do you feel any calmer going through menopause or is it similar to the mix of PMDD and BPD or worse for you, are there meds for menopausal symptoms?

Yeah that's exactly how I describe it to my therapists and boyfriend, it's like I'm a different person I down right mean and judge people during PMDD and that is really not my character I never pick people apart the way I do during these times it's really upsetting. Same with my boyfriend, sounds like we are lucky that they are so understanding of the ups and downs! I will have to check that app out I track mine on my calender but my PMDD fluctuates sometimes I only have it for 3 days, which is my favorite but normally it's about 5-10 days of out of control emotions!

I think like anything else it's just about adjusting and treating what you can. Now if I start to feel out of control, I will check where my cycle is. I also have a free app called "hormone horoscope" where you put in your cycle dates and it tells you where your hormones are at based on what day of your cycle it is. So if I feel like I need to eat and can't get full or like I want to cry at a commercial, I'll check that out and see what it says. Usually I'm relieved to realize it's hormones and then it goes away on it's own. Because I really know "ok it's hormones, you don't need to burn the house down" lol not that I would but I feel that extreme when I am that hormonal!

Yeah, let's just say that I've thrown things at my bf for asking me if I had my period yet when we were fighting, only for it to come the next day :/ lol

I'm perimenopausal. Lately pms has gotten so much more severe for me that it feels like pmdd but given my age and symptoms I know it's perimenopause.

Anyway, I feel like I am held hostage by my hormones and my emotions for most of the time.

I find, for me, music and doing art to be incredibly soothing and I have to remove myself from people at times so I don't snap on them.

I love the Hormone Horoscope APP!
I have PMDD as well.
Much of my problems came after stopping Suboxone. This is interesting to me because yes, you can have PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome) but if you look into the other ingredient in Suboxone, it is Naloxone which is used to treat those who self injure. I tend to wonder if being on the med so long prevented me from doing so.
Thankfully that is in remission.
PMDD is part of my life, but exercise and some weight loss have helped so much.

Do you mind me asking how old you are? I will be 35 in January, but I got my period for the first time at age 9 and I SWEAR I'm having hot flashes. I've read it could be perimenopause. It seems I'm too young for that but I'm one of those people who is always cold and I've started getting sweaty out of nowhere for no reason. The other day it was cold enough in my house that I'd generally be turning the heat on but I was sweating and had to turn the a/c on.

Well, I can tell you that I had PMDD and BPD right to menopause. Now I think I don't qualify for PMDD anymore since I'm in menopause. The BPD, unfortunately, continues to be a prescence in my life complete with mood swings.

Yes, there are meds for menopausal symptoms. I am on bio-identical hormones. I never got full-on hot sweats - they were more like warm flushes. But they were a PITA! My insomnia also returned and worsened. My keratosis pilaris spread and my libido up and died. I also lost a lot of hair (though that could also have been stress-related).

The bio-identicals have stopped the hot flushes. My insomnia and DOA libido are still issues. My keratosis pilaris is on the wane but I think that has more to do with the latest skin regimen I took up than the bio-identicals. My hair has stopped thinning but, again, I think that may have more to do with supplements I take to combat that than the bio-identicals.

But nobody's taking these bio-identicals away from me! They keep the hot flushes at bay and I never got close (nor do I think I will while I continue to take these) to having hot sweats.

I think it's a little calmer now in terms of the PMDD has abated.....but it's still no picnic because the BPD is still going on.

If you want to know more about bio-identical hormones, PM me. If you're in the U.S., I can put you in touch with a compounding pharmacist that I consult with.

Peri-menopause can start at 35. Get thee to a gyn and have complete bloodwork done!

You need to know where ALL your hormone levels are at in order to begin treatment if they're out-of-whack (or beginning to go that way).

Yeah I need to go. I have health insurance for the first time in like 7 years, sometimes I forget I can actually go to a doctor now if I want/need to.

Yes you all just reminded me I need to make an appointment for my gyn and get a progesterone test done! I did not realize you could be pre-menopause by 35! I swear time flies after your mid twenties !!

I am 37. At first my gyno thought I was nuts but with family history of early menopause plus my symptoms and then me giving the dates of my cycles it was agreed this is what I am going through. Each month seems to get worse. Due to my type of migraines my (male) neurologist does not want me to take any sort of suppliments, birth control hormones or anything as it will make that worse.
