I was diagnosed with BPD only a month or two ago. I was considered high functioning because I have a job, a stable residence, and I haven't self harmed in years. However, I was still struggling with severe anxiety, daily panic attacks, relationship issues, and suicidal thoughts. I started taking ability and neurontin. I felt better on these medicines after only three weeks. I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my chest. I stopped worrying constantly and easily focused on my present day. I have also been in DBT and couples therapy. These helped me put my thoughts and behaviors into perspective and gave me tools to change my maladaptive coping skills. I spent most of my life trying to self improve even before my diagnosis, so it was a long road, but i feel better than I ever have in my entire life, literally. There is hope, find what works for you. Don't be afraid to accept your mistakes or face your true self. Only when you're truly honest with yourself can you change things about yourself to be able to be truly happy. Don't give up. You can make it better

I am wondering what each of the meds you are taking do? Is neurotonin for the mood swings? and the other is it abilify - for depression?

My psychiatrist wanted to prescribe me abilify too but I can't afford it right now (no insurance). I'm glad it's helped you so much. Thank you for the positive post!

Thank you for the positive post. I am also on Abilify, as well as Cymbalta. It helps me manage my emotions, in addition to trying to practice DBT daily that I learned several years ago, and that helped me recover.

Yes, that sounds right. Ability they think effects neurotransmitters to treat depression and I take the neurontin three times a day to mellow my mood. Everyone reacts to medications differently but I finally worked up the motivation to find something that works for me. Wellbutrin alone from my primary doctor wasn't cutting it and I had to seek a psychiatrist. People told me and I didn't believe them, but its true, keep trying until you find the doctor and med that helps you
