Is this "ok" - for a therapist to say some people are "worthwhile" but others not.. so not "worth" the "help"

I worked my *** off in therapy but I had no clue how to do therapy..

And neither did the therapist

(Delete fuzzy bear delete )

I think the "change" came when this t decided I might have bpd.. amazingly judgemental and mean..

Why can't therapists be honest if they don't have the skills to help someone .. Instead of turning into abusers (paid therapists irl - how the **** do I even start to trust another
t. Irl )

(Please, I don't want any advice to go somewhere where there are no doctors etc.. or that being angry is wrong. I'm not usually angry as I try to keep this person out of my head... sometimes I "fail" )

I am so sorry that this has been your experience. No it is not ok for a therapist to suggest that some people deserve therapy and others do not. I was lucky to find a therapist who specialised in BPD patients. Being angry is NOT wrong. It is an emotion and you are entitled to feel angry. I know you don't want to see suggestions on going to someone else but if you were to come to my area of Canada I could set you up with my old therapist - she helped me a lot.

She seriously said that? That's messed up for anyone to say, let alone a therapist of all people! I'm sorry you had to experience that. Your anger is definitely justified.

That attitude is so common here it is not funny. We as BPD have always got the wrong end of the stick. The only T that take BPD are the ones that have failed in their practice so to keep their slots filled they see the "hard to treat" and then blame the patient for it not working. I was told for years what you heard Fuzzybear. This is our life. UGH!!!!

Thanks technigal and everyone, I'm happy to hear there are some good therapists who can and do help clients with BPD - I'm glad you found one of them

I have heard from a couple of people with BPD who have found great therapists

(And of course some who have been blamed and mistreated )

PS has anyone here read Yalom?
(I haven't read anything by him for a while but I don't think he subscribed to the perception
that mental illness is always a lifelong condition (that "has to be lived with" ) and he certainly was aware of his own shortcomings. An excellent therapist and writer, imo...)
