Because of this constant emotional and identity crisis how can we truly identify Narcissism within someone diagnosed with BPD?

It can be hard since there is often some overlapping between personality disorders. A therapist would have to judge whether there is comorbidity. If you read up on it you will find there is quite a big difference between the two disorders. I could imagine that you could have a borderline acting out and appearing Narcissistic due to identity disturbance.
Thanks for this!

I used to think my mom had this problem, but it was BPD + bipolar manic grandiosity.

It vaporized when she crashed down into depression.
